Affects Today
The Cold War's affects still live on with us today, although it may have ended 24 years ago. Now even though the US won the war, lots of the effects on the world today are disastrous. Some of the effects change our daily lives, let alone world relations.
Russian Relations
Today our relations with Russia, and many other nations we were once at "war" with remain tense. Countries like Russia, China, Cuba, and Vietnam still remain hostile towards the US. Russia continues to intimidate American allies and not listen to the US nor the UN. This can be related to the past violent relationship between the countries.

The Fall of Communism
With the fall of the Soviet Union brought the fall of many Communist countries with it. Today we see very few communist countries. And even countries like China are not very Communist any longer. They have opened up their doors to the free market. Now although not always true, Communism has brought the suffering of many, and it attracts civil rights issues. With the fall of Communism, it brought a new world of human living standards.

The Rise of Capitalism
With the end of Communism brought the rise of Capitalism. This led to the massive new freedom of trade, people, and business. Now Capitalism has swept the massive influx of trade between countries and the start of multinational corporations. This has led to the Globalization and the rise of different markets across the world. As Capitalism rose, so did the Humans' Rights Standards. We see democratic governments and consumer opportunity.
America: The Sole Superpower
After the fall of the Soviet Union, there was no such power in the world to compete with the State's power. So America became the world's singe superpower. Their military, economy, and influence could not be met by anyone else on the world. Today, in many respects, we are still the world's superpower. China and Russia come up not far behind although. The United States also named themselves the "World Police". They have gotten involved in many conflicts around the world, especially in the Middle East.
